Thank you Pa12 :)
I'm a "cold guy" and I wear the B-6 up to 15°C with no problem. So I'm sure I would find many opportunities to wear an Irvin.
Agreed, I find shearling only becomes much significantly warmer than an A-2 jacket if you really "seal" it up - if the jacket's unzipped and the wrist snaps (B-6) or wrist zips (Irvin) are undone, you can wear it up to surprisingly high temperatures.

Next up an early Fenland fleece jobbie from Eastman. Like the Aero's posted I yesterday this is also a 44 but is roomier allowing for layering.

Compared to the photos I posted yesterday you will note the cap has stretched and the Labrador shrunk which proves neither are showerproof....

In my haste to get this piece posted, I actually forgot to include an Irvin that I picked up a few months back . Some of you may remember reading about it “ The Beast” .
It’s made by Simmons Built and it is an Irvin on steroids . I won’t bore you with a lot of details as you can see what I’m referring to in the photos below .View attachment 107513View attachment 107515View attachment 107517View attachment 107519View attachment 107525

completely off topic, but I love how your shoes totally match the colour of the gravel.

When I was a younger man I was very fashion conscious and tried to color coordinate most of what I wore everyday .
As an old man …… if my bedroom slippers match the ground .. I consider it a good fashion day !

;)
No problem. Dressed for comfort, not speed. Just make sure we don’t see you on the “Walmart people “;) that’s when you’ve given up completely.

I am pleased to report that the fine early ELC BoB mentioned above and formerly stabled with Steve @Micawber has been doing some good service through the colder months.

What a brilliant stoke of potential contradiction I see here Phil . You should be the first Brit to wear an Irvin …. While driving a Mercedes Benz …..around the UK !

Nice jacket Phil.
I loved all my 42 patt Merino jackets but the Flyweight beats them all on comfort. I think the early jackets were too thick and heavy.
Just my opinion

Hi guys,

I recently bought this WW2 CC Irvin flight jacket for my collection. Can anyone tell by any signs or type of label in what year this jacket was produced. If you need additional photos please let me know.

Regards,
Sergey

Great looking originals and thanks for contributing to this thread .
Oddly enough the Coastal Command hooded Irvin is probably one of the most rare Irvin’s today . If anyone can find one it’s a plus . If anyone finds a larger sized one … let me know ;)
Burt I had one years ago in the UK unfortunately the hood was cut off, happens to many still traces of the yellow paint though and yellow numbers on back, shame I don't have it now
