First off let me say that JC, being the gentleman he has always been, was kind enough to contact me and to provide some background on this jacket and to confirm that this is one of his Jackets . This is in fact his original, 1st Rough Wear 1401 P jacket that he made in 2009. He also provided a link to the original listing . Needless to say I couldn’t be more pleased and at the same time humbled, to know that I’m fortunate in owning a jacket that helped to start John on the road to success in his establishment of the Good Wear Brand .
Thank you John

Burt hope you don’t mind I posted the photos from GoodWear link...

Returning to the knits, I didn’t think they did look like any ELC knits I’ve ever seen, which have always been of a looser weave, with less defined ribbing, as it were. They look more like the replacement ones Bill Kelso did for me when they were doing them for the price of postage back in the early days. Couchy, if it was me I would have regretted selling that Cooper!

Oh I was more commenting on how the cuffs are rather tubular and don’t have the “half of an hour glass” shape that most GW, BK and Aeros have. I agree that the weave doesn’t really look like Eastman’s knits - at least not the ones that they’re using now.

Some great looking jackets, all of them!
Keeping the thread going, here’s another vintage Good Wear from about 10 years ago that I picked up pre-owned. It’s been my go to jacket most of the time when weather permits. It’s a GW, Rough Wear 27752. Note : The lighting is actually making this appear a little darker that it really is in normal daylight.

Not bad for the 450 Euro start-up... but still a bit of room to improve... but not bad at all.
Apologize, the WW2 GW zips and the other one dont fit.
Please kindly see the GW quality compared...

If I would still be in repro... waiting 10 years for a GW... paying whatever it takes... no issue... simply unmatched!

Not sure to catch your point.

You are comparing a GW Dubow to a Platon's Dubow ?
Nope!
No bashing intended, just showing GW cuffs and a few details and showing what you get from GW, if you compare to a great new start-up low cost maker...
If the community is unhappy with that... I am fine with deleting my post.
BTW, my German colleague owning the 450 Euro Dubow is happy to sell it... any prospect with serious buying intentions...? please pm...
I am happy to assist for the connection .... but please no blah blah blah or similar... not mine.. no interest at all..( thx. )
All negotiations are inbetween prospect and owner of the seal Dubow.... Waiting time...? = Paypal+Postal..;)

ELC A-2‘s in general:
To be sure its an ELC ( or not) check the markings on the studs/snaps inside the pockets.
99% of the ELC A-2 are „ELC“ stamped/marked.

It’s amazing that John can look at a jacket and recognize it as his own from 2009 (post #9). His attention to detail is incredible.

On a side note, I didn’t know this about ELC. It would be good to have a thread on how to identify the different jacket makers. A number of reproductions are currently being passed off as the real thing and I suspect that will only get worse over time. I don’t have sufficient different vendor knowledge to start a thread, but maybe one here would?

Sorry DM with an email??!!
Hey BR
Very simple with an I phone .
Take a photo of your jacket . Then go to the thread you want to post it in. Hit attach files in the left hand lower corner of your screen, then choose photo library . That will take you to your photos. Just pick the photo you want to display and touch it . A check will appear on your photo and then that photo will appear at the bottom of your thread window . Simply hit full image tag at bottom and your photo will pop up in your posting . Actually it’s much easier than the way this sounds once you do it.
