Hell of a guy, from everything I've read about him. A Lady friend of mine was his nurse at the end of his days, and she said no matter how bad he was feeling...he was ALWAYS polite, cracked a joke and a smile whenever he could manage it, and was just a true Gentleman till he left this world.

Burt it was a 1962 650cc Triumph TR6R that was mod for the movie. Look at the Triumph logo (reverse triangle) on the right casing side.

My gut feeling / hazy memory is that those photos may have been taken during shooting of The war Lover some of which was shot at the airfield at Bovingdon not far from Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, UK.

I agree as many publicity shots seemed to be taken of McQueen in a B-3 while in England filming The War Lover.

Wonder why McQueen's in costume, but Wagner's not? Were there any scenes they weren't together? Or maybe Stevo just couldn't get out of character.

I reckon so. Quite a few on location shots show those two mooching about still in costume. The background just looks British as does the bit of numberplate showing on the car behind. I used to be pretty familiar with Bovingdon as was but lots of changes in recent years.
