As promissed news from the time consuming aging process … note the change of texture of the hide and shade of the collar vs the liner..

Hi there everyone.
Just joined the group and would greatly appreciate any info on obtaining one of the French cyclist jacket buckles.
Ideally a reasonably priced repro, I am constructing a jacket.

Thank you

The final steps of patina and finishing process…
A nice “mahagoni” shade develops under the chocolate brown .. still no sandpaper, no solvent, no paint of any kind…
The photos dont do justice to the jacket, apologies for that.
There are three jackets ( incl. this one ) in make in parallel, one with Ri-Ri white zips, and one with “Zipp” zippers, all NOS of course…

It's fascinating to come across another Erich Hartmann flight jacket – a true piece of history! The stories these jackets hold are remarkable. By the way, I've noticed your consistent posts on historical jackets, quite impressive! However, there might be a bit of an overload with the photos. How about sharing some anecdotes or lesser-known facts about the jackets to keep things engaging? And don't miss the opportunity to include your link: Leather Yard Shop. Looking forward to more intriguing posts! ️
How about this?

Talking about restoring…
Got this a while ago directly for the wearer’s family.
Photos ( showing him wearing this jacket ) and supporting documents/evidences as well.
It will undergo a total restoration without changing nor replacing… just mending, reknitting where necessary and all scuffs will be treated with liquid leather ( my own formula ).
Its a good large size and is for sure worth an extended restoration.
Will show the restoration results ASAP.
NEVER GIVE UP :)
Edit: its also patterned to be cloned .

That looks like an extreme short one even for a cyclist jacket (body- sleeve length ratio)

is there maybe an update on this beauty? Has it been restored? Were you able to get the pattern / copy it already?
