Bryce knows his A-11s. He is not going to give you a nice watch for free and neither would anybody else. I should have bought from you Bryce. Trying to go cheap does not work ever. Especially on watches.

The Elgin was not cheap. I paid 800 canadian for it. Then had to spend the 375 watchmaker fee.

Like I say. The Elgin is nice. Maybe as you say, needs something to make it run better. At least its nice looking. I don't know, it's like a vintage car, it's either nice looking or nice running. The two are really expensive to achieve at the same time.

Not cheap. It is all it can be. Worth it. I guess I'll have to stick my two A-11 originals. It's not like I can't buy and sell. But I'd rather just keep.

I know in a closed case if fine, it's when opening the case to replace crystal and old dust, it gets brittle and cracks definitely dangerous for employees, like phossy finger and matches I guess, but that was worse conditions, radium has a life of 1600 years gamma and alpha

Low cost countries products use a lot of radiation contaminated stainless steel ( nuclear waste or hospital radio contaminated SS ).. reprocessed in all kind of products… ( appliances, elevators etc.. ) also watch cases …
It also happened a lot in the 1970/80 with famous Japanese brands.
The Geiger counter ist not always in use by customs..but if entire containers are rejected.

My Bulova A-11 from 1943 in sterling silver, sold by Brice, a great watch.
If I may make a recommendation, buying an antique/vintage watch is a delicate matter that requires :
- either an excellent knowledge of the watch you are buying
