I really recommend talking to John. Beyond having first-rate patterns, the stuff he's been doing with NOS (or sometimes even just old zippers salvaged from falling-apart originals) really elevates his work, imho. And while his jackets are at a high price point, I've found my bank account really doesn't feel it as much as it does from other sellers: $200 down, and then you've got a year plus to pull together the rest. That's about $50 per paycheck, assuming you get paid bi-weekly.

Mulceber, you are totally right about Goodwear being the logical option for a first-rate D-1. I do love his S.H Knopf D-1 and keep looking on his sale page for a (yeah keep hoping bud) D-1 in my size (40-42)...

Running errands in my Buzz N-1. I especially like the cut of this jacket and the pure vintage look and feel. This iteration is Buzz tribute to USS SEMINOLE with it's remarkable patch. The stencil on the back is well made and adds a punch to the "chore coat" primary function of the N-1. The zipper is a very nice Conmar rendition and the alpaca is close to the originals I find on the web. The cord is also very convincing and the color seems spot-on for a WW2 N-1. Inspired by Mulceber, I posted some flat images of the jacket. It's cold today so I did layered a bit more than needed.
It's not my last N-1...

Same old, same old. ATF tanker but now with further authentic 'patina' in the form of creosote stains because a fence post slipped out of my gloved hands back into a container of the stuff. Treat 'em rough I say, none of this "my jacket is getting a lovely authentic worn in look since I was caught in a light rain shower during my two minute walk to the bakery to pick up some profiteroles" malarkey….
