Amazing color, I would also not dare to change it.

Don't do it!!! J will do a terrific job, but that 1401 is a russet classic! Rather patch it up, Jimmy Stewart style or something. Re-dye it and it will lose its heritage!

Thanks for the input. I was starting to lean that way myself, but hearing others tell me not to change it helps confirm my decision. Maybe I'll look for a beat up russet Aero or AVI bronco to give the re-dye treatment.

I’ve been meaning to have Jeremiah give it a Depo-style re-dye and make it a McQueen tribute jacket, since I now have two Russet Rough Wears, but the war horse is so gorgeous I haven’t been able to pull the trigger.

Thanks! They're by a vintage-style company called Freddies of Pinewood: https://www.freddiesofpinewood.co.uk/product/mens-1940s-jeans. Not as fancy as some of the LVC and Lee's that I've seen around here, but my jacket collecting is expensive enough for my budget.

Had to take a second look as it’s so similar to an A2 without the knits . Is it lamb , goat or cow hide?

Yep, Lucas and Spielberg absolutely had the A-2 in mind when they were doing the costuming for this movie. It’s lamb skin from Merino sheep, which has striations similar to capeskin. First high-end jacket I bought, and the jacket that first gave me the itch for an A-2.

Is that a Wested Indy jacket. I had one years ago in goat and I sold it on. Always had a bit of sellers remorse . I thought Wested had made the original for the Raiders of the Lost Arc movie, but then I read that there might have been another company that made them for the movies that followed . It does look like a hybrid of an A2 for sure.

there's some written story somewhere specifically about the Raiders jacket and what costuming had in mind in re the design of the jacket. I know they needed something Indy could be physical in without it riding up, hence no waist knits
