What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

Foster 55J14 again. I wasn’t pleased with this one when it arrived - it had a strong aftershave smell to it. A few weeks in the closet, and it seemed to have disappeared.

You can clearly see here the V-shape effect- wide shoulders/trim waist thing going on with the 55Js. This one has no label, but it’s about 99% a Foster 55J14. A bunch of cosmetic issues/replacement knits/zipper/collar?, but the shell (what counts) is strong.

A little bit of white paint too. Why is this so common in these jackets??

Seeing you in that Foster 55J14, I can really believe @ZuZu 's hypothesis that that contract was the Top Gun jacket. The fit looks A LOT like what I see on screen.

Oh- not ZuZu's hypothesis! This came from a Higher Authority! I thought the TG jacket was a Werber but I was surgically and precisely disabused of that notion!

And the Top Gun jacket had the pencil slot stitching on the left pocket. Pretty safe to rule out an M-422a because they don’t fit like that as how it appears to be worn by Meverick.

Did any other post war USN jackets have the vertical pocket stitching or was this unique to Foster?

In a previous thread the issue was raised that maybe the screen jacket had shoulder pads. Very interesting, and that looks about right.

it's kinda hard to see the vertical line but I think it's there. Jacket Caesar himself convinced me it was a Foster 55j14. Of the shoulder pads there is no doubt:

You're probably right. As much as I try not to like him I loved the Jack Reacher movie and Minority Report. He's issue-laden for sure...

Have you ever read a Reacher novel? I couldn't believe when they announced Tommy for the role. Reacher is supposed to be a monster of a man (see the new cable series) -- probably 3 times Cruise's size -- all the way around.

But yeah, Minority Report was good, and the first couple Mission Impossible films... until they turned formulaic to me.

Paul at Bronson, and I, thoroughly discussed sizing and he figures in need a 36 in their B-10. But they don't have any.
That leaves a Bob Dong size 36 from vtgdr on ebay, but their sizing is different.
Lee at vtgdr thinks I need a 40 in the Bob D.
I'm 5'7", 140, 38 short suit coat. Does anyone have a Bob D in a 36, 38, or 40 so that I can gauge Bob's sizing compared to some of you fellers who are 5'9"-ish, give or take, or of similar stature, etc.?

38 inches, about 96.5 cm.
My shoulders are 18 instead of the more stardard size 17-17.5, and my sleeves are about 23" from the shoulder seam, or about 32 measured from the middle of the neck at the bottom of the collar band.

IMHO, for B-10 or B-15 style jacket, you really need about 6 inches of breathing room, since the pile lining takes up so much room. So I'd say you need a jacket with a 22" pit-to-pit, maybe even slightly more.
