Here a few photos how they came... A lot of work to carefully remove them ... mine are original, from parachute bags...and no repros as often seen on the market.

I brought my Hamilton for some maintenance to a feller at the other side of town first half of october. He has a living room filled with clocks and two kids. Would need three weeks he said. Sent an email, got a reply on november 13 he was two weeks behind schedule, he would get back to me when he has it finished. Guess what….nuthin' yet. No reply to another email.
Gonna call him tomorrow, two and a half months is just too much.

I like this watch. It is such a classic. And it fits the A-2 time frame. Bought it from a member here.

Yesterday I was given this, an old Timex which had sat in a drawer at my parents' house for I don't know how long. Belonged to somebody in the family, not sure who, although it came with several non-working pocket watches (and one which still works) belonging to my grandfather. Automatic, and it runs. Stuck it on a strap and been wearing it ever since. Kept decent time all night. Nothing special, but nice to have nonetheless.

In the US back in the 50s there was an American Commentator by the name of John Cameron Swayze , who became the TV sales guy for Timex watches. He’s the one who coined the famous phrase “ Timex, takes a licking but keeps on ticking” .... and they did!

B-Man2, you are 100% correct about the durability of a Timex.
A Timex was my first watch many moons ago.
The civilian Timex I had in SEA never missed a beat or tick if you will.
Regards and Cheers

That's my old couch :). I used to collect FSSC hamiltons and USN Buships watches. I probably still have around 20 of them in a box somewhere.

but so called “A-11” (but they are not mostly Korea or VN periods... some believers still believe WW2 but they are not..) for 120 Euro.., the lot of three...120 Euro plus shipping... on a military watch website...

I think I’ve said before I’d love a minty white face a-11. I keep hearing of them but when I see them they I’m left feeling my interpretation of mint and the sellers are quite different. I’m seriously considering one of the Buzz Rickson repro’s. I know all the pros and cons including the inaccuracies but all things considered and at the price it seems the best option as a daily wearer.

As far as I could keep track of it as a military watch collector ....in 2019...two (real A-11 white faced ) Elgin A-11 white face ...offered and sold on the spot...:...one for 1350 US$ one for 1100 Euro...Others...”non A-11” ...officially called Grade...”xzxy” ( white face with sub- second hand at 6 o-clock ) but white faced Ord watches...plenty...for 50 to 180 Euro...These Ord...Grade...xyz watches are no A-11 and were never issued to any flying crews.
...Depending what one wants and is ready to invest in...
