^ Imp, to make sure we are on the same page, I am NOT talking about my goatskin doniger. That jacket is perfect in all aspects.
JC had sent me (for sizing) a HH aero test jacket he had made and it had a slightly weird. musty smell - I just presumed it was the HH odour. However, I have since...
I exactly know the smell you are talking about. The test jacket that John sent me had that smell too ... enough that it bothered me, but not so much to make me hate it. I don't know how bad your jacket had it, I hope its mostly gone after the wash - and hey, you probably got some grain come out...
I dislike the hip-on-hip pose, I find it artificial to stand like that for a picture. I usually am in my i-look-pissed pose (ramrod straight, arms on the side) or my 'relaxed' pose (hands folded behind back, less than ramrod straight) in most of my pics ... which ofcourse leads to the inevitable...
I like the jacket, the sleeves look great and the body is not too loose or anything ... it seems fairly heavy, not sure how comfortbale it is to wear this jacket around. But I am positive that it will break-in and age really nicely ...
Long back, epaulets on military shirts were once used as a place to hold the caps the soldier wore ... caps of these kind:
As time went by, these epaulets became symbols of all things military ... so even we moved on to having different kinds of caps, the epaulets stayed.
will unflatten the collars ... does it harm the jacket if I keep them flattened for too long?
I did not know that donigers run longer than average ... I don't like short lenghts on a jacket, so its good for me :)
Grant, you are absolutely right ... I have the collars folded down flat just to display the pointed collars better - think collars in early 80s "disco" movies :)
^ Andrew, "pleased" would be an understatement :) I was literally giddly when I wore it for the first time and saw the fit ... This is the best jacket I've owned!
John's perry is outstanding ... Jason had a thread comparing a GW with 2 originals (perrys three was the name of that thread I think), and the jacket was amazing to say the least ... make sure to post some pics of you wearing the jacket once you get it ...
