When I first joined VLJ I posted an eBay sale of an Abercrombie and Fitch ANJ3. It was generally agreed that it was genuine and that Abercrombie and Fitch had purchased and re- labeled WW2 stock and sold them. I’m not saying whether this one is the real deal or not but they did sell ‘real’ ones...
Montgomery Ward was a retailer not a manufacturer of leather jackets. Their jackets were generally of high quality and were made by some of the ‘famous’ makers although it’s often hard to find out who made a particular style unless you can find an identically similar jacket sold by and labelled...
On a small area out of sight rub in a bit of Vaseline using your fingers. Vaseline has lots in common with Pecard leather dressing but it’s a deal cheaper.
I believe Jojo at Jojos General Store on Ecclesall Road Sheffield has a small supply of Lightning zipper sliders/pulls in silver and brass. Just the pulls not the complete zipper but if you need a replacement pull contact him. If you Google him you’ll get his contact details.
I’ve got an Ostmann in a 42 and it’s a snug fit which is not too surprising as I usually take a 44 for my 43” chest and broad shoulders. My 44 Eastman A1 and 44 A2 fit true to size. I don’t mind the snug fit in the Ostmann - it’s wearable.
LW Foster contract no. N383s 20445. I’ve added a pic of the label on my L.W. Foster - mine is a later contract but it shows what the rest of your label would have looked like before it wore thin.
I can see your point about the therapeutic aspect of ironing the wax in but how do you clean the iron after ironing wax? I use a hot hairdryer and it’s effortless.
You can’t beat a bit of ‘retail therapy’ for making the endorphins flow and helping you to get over the grief of losing a pet. Your feeling better might also improve the health of Bella as it’s well known that dogs empathise with their carers. Explain the above to your wife and throw in a...
A further point is that the ANJ3 had buttons on its patch pockets not snaps even though the Army specified snaps on the A2 and the ANJ3 as you know was a ‘proposed’ replacement for the USAAF A2 and the Navy jackets. I also think this might have something to do with sea spray and it’s caustic...
I’m wondering if they’ve done it so they can get ‘overnight’ interest on the millions of pounds dollars etc. of sellers money they’re holding for a day or two? Having said that I’m not sure if any banks still pay that sort of interest like they used to.
When I’ve wanted to identify a Schott I’ve checked in at the Schott forum with pics of the main label and the white pocket tag. Gail (r.i.p.) was brilliant but lots of others there will chip in and help you.

If you
if you Google ‘Jojo’s General Store by Rag Parade’ you’ll find a shop with lots of vintage Belstaff in various styles and sizes. The owner - Jojo Elgarice will happily advise you if you contact him. It’s on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield South Yorkshire U.K. - of course he sells lots of...
Agreed he’s honest and there’s no pretence they’re originals etc. I bought a bag of leather offcuts from him a while ago - excellent quality and in useful sizes too.
