The other problem with all of the Taubers shirts I have encountered is short arms. Even when it fits in the chest, the arms are very short. Was this based on a different style of riding gloves that people used to wear? A repro could be a good way to “modernize” the arm length.

It seems like there is both a color and a texture match to contend with. If you look at the picture that @bn1966 posted of his jacket later on in the thread, his rust color matches the older mouton, but the texture looks like new mouton. The mouton seems to get “clumpier” as it ages. I wonder...

I agree…nothing quite matches the natural aging of the mouton collars on older jackets. I have also seen G-1s with an almost yellow mouton on the collar. I don’t know if they were a different color to begin with, or it is just more time in the sun to bleach them.

FWIW, mine has the integrated back panel. No extra seam at the edge of the biswing fold.

Thank you for the extra photos and researching the specs. Mine has a biweave single ply waistband, but doubled wrist cuffs. If the cuffs are biweave, it is a more subtle transition between weaves than the waistband. Knowing what is original and what could be a later replacement is helping me...

Thank you for this post! It is helping me figure out which elements of a (new to me) 7823B jacket by the same maker are original. Do your knits have the 2 pattern weave? It looks like they are pretty uniform in the photos.

Is this a good way to cover up paint spots on an older jacket? Or, is it better to remove the paint (even at the risk of color loss) and reverse the color loss with the dye in the boot cream? Why someone would paint while wearing a nice older leather jacket is still hard for me to understand.
