What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

I had a Superior Togs model prior…I’ll say this - the secondhand Buzz cloth/nylon jackets are the best bang for the buck I can think of.
Without a doubt. Have most of the B-10s and all the Army clothes jackets. Buying the odd patched or unique jackets only second hand now...

Hi, everyone, I'm new. I joined because I had questions about getting a repro M-422a that I didn't even need to ask since the information was pretty easy to find here. I realized recently that pretty much every jacket I wear is a flight jacket except one, and it's pretty close to being one anyway.

First is my DeBrabander A-2. I got it for a Halloween costume in 2016 and while it hasn't seen daily wear it's seen a fair amount.

Something wonky's happening with the cuff knit, though.

I've been wearing this jacket pretty much every day since around January, except particularly cold days, and I'm finally feeling like it's breaking in to my liking. Naturally that means it's time to get a new daily wear jacket.

I own this jacket because of you people, so thanks! I absolutely love this jacket. It keeps the wind out and I'm currently pursuing my masters degree in Edinburgh, so there's a lot of wind. It also makes me want to get a set of aviation working greens, go for that Bridges at Toko-Ri look.

I also have a few other jackets I wear sometimes.

I bought a Luna Replicas reproduction NASA jacket a couple years ago because I'm a massive space nerd but didn't get a lot of opportunity to wear it: I'd started a historic preservation internship at Gettysburg at about the same time and didn't want to wear it to basically a construction job.

Being a massive space nerd means I wanted another NASA jacket for colder weather, so when Luna Replicas announced a cold weather version of the gold Apollo jacket I had to get one.

I am slightly disappointed with this jacket because the outer shell seems to be a slightly different color than the standard gold jacket, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I might have to buy the standard jacket just to make sure.

Of course I also had to go even further with my space madness.

The Fisher space pen has a blue ink cartridge because that's what they flew on Apollo. And I figure you can never go wrong having a Skilcraft pen on you at all times. I found a box of 'em in my stuff, must have acquired it when I was in the army.

For particularly cold days I have an At The Front B-10.

I bought it when they had a sale. I got it for a hundred bucks and it's one of the best impulse buys I ever made. Wonderfully warm.

The jacket I wear that isn't a flight jacket I don't have a picture of handy because it's also the only one I didn't bring with me to Scotland. It's my old CVC jacket that the army gave me and forgot to ask for back. No complaints there. It was issued to me brand new and I don't think I ever actually wore it while I was in.

I think I belong here because after looking at all my jackets my thought was "what should I get next?" and not "wow I have too many."
G'day and Welcome!

After a bit of a false Spring and some unseasonably warm days winter has returned and we woke to a light dusting of snow this morning. An opportunity to try out the new to me older size 44 Fenland fleece ELC Irvin care of @Southoftheborder . I bought this to replace my size 42 of the same vintage which is getting a bit snug and difficult to zip up.

Unexpectedly cold here again as well, so it's back from the light weights to what is probably one of my most beloved jackets now...the ELC 42 pattern Irvin... Perfect with a thin longsleeve underneath today ...

Great looking Barbour !
In your opinion… which model is better, the Border model or the Beaufort ?
I do not have a Beaufort. I have an international for being “cool” a Bedale for around town and the Border for serious slop. With their snap/zip in liners and generous patterns they are easy to wear and great for travel. I found the below helpful.

I have had a Northumbria for years (no idea how that compares to the Border but they're both longer jackets) and picked up a Beaufort last year. I do reckon they literally have your back covered in a really wide range of situations and you can layer up/down for most weather. You can't beat a good wax jacket.

Since the '60s I've worn and appreciated Belstaff on the bikes for rainy days, in fact thinking about it, only had 2 in over 50 years and still have the 2nd one, both were bought second hand as well.....never had a Barbour though, so can't compare
oh, was thinking of the waxed ones, of course, almost forgot also have a red nylon one and a '50s fringed leather one

The Northumbria is the same as the Border but in a heavier cotton and with a wool lining.

Over the years I've had many a Barbour waxed coat wearing some for work and others for outdoor pursuits. If I buy one now I will always go for a classic waxed model from years ago - prior to the era when they became trendy and Barbour designed and expanded their clothing range accordingly.

I've also had waxed cotton coats produced by other makers to cater for the fieldsports market in the UK. Some have been superior and lasted longer than those made by Barbour. A huge design blunder was when Barbour started using zips with a huge ring integral to the puller which was great in terms of ease of use with cold or gloved fingers but I recall there were reports in the sporting [hunting] press about items of equipment getting snagged in the ring..
