The day of the Colonel

Can add my review to the group too...as all these are jackets made in 2012.

Was wondering if there have been any BK reviews from an owner since the first of the year ..specifically a "Vintage Warhorse" A2 ?

I can't recall any. A similar question was asked on another forum. I would be happy to be given a size 44 Victory horse BK jacket and write a review. ;)

Don't mean to sidetrack, but....Has GW added more jacket makers? Last I heard it was still just John making jackets, working on new designs, taking trips to look for leather suppliers, running the business, dealing with the web site.
As far as I know the only other person working at GW is Vicky.........and she does the clerical/record keeping work.

Even if John has added another jacket maker, I still have to say he was doing a heck of a job turning out jackets when he was by himself. Even before the turn of the year, there seemed to be a new GW jacket owner posting photos/reviews a couple of times a week here and at TFL.

Back to the subject detour.....
Checked with John.
It's still just him with Vicky doing the "clerical".

So this suggests GW is in fact not a larger outfit than BK. One thing John does not do is vigorously advertise his jackets here. Members flag up new GW jackets here from the New Jacket Production section of his site.

Ken Calder,Gary Eastman and Derek of Lewis Leathers are all members here. I can't think of one post where they have promoted a product.

True, unlike e.g. WWII Impressions...
However, we do have a number of smaller outfits specialising in caps, patches, jackets, etc. that do regularly promote/sell their wares.
I'm also of the opinion that a commercial board is the place for commercial businesses to avoid ambiguity. If you're selling a used jacket it goes on Buy/Sell and not in repros or originals; it's a small change to ask sellers of goods that they've produced themselves to post in a dedicated section.
It doesn't raise any hackles on FL when Insurrection or Aero do the same, in the case of the former they have their own dedicated thread, although I'm not advocating that approach here.

Hope I'm not chappin hides. I just checked the Buy/sell section and it says no dealers.

I manage to make my living selling the patches I create but I'm also very proud to show my work here, lots of good feedback and interest. I offer a nice discount to anyone on this forum and consider us all buddies in a way. At times I will post a link to my Ebay store if I'm having a sale and offer even more of an incentive to guys here by offering free shipping or even additional 20% off. Just want you all to know that being on this forum is very much appreciated and I'm thankful for the opportunities provided here so I try to reciprocate the best I can. If a new section is added to the index for dealers, I'll be more than happy to post my sales and promotions there. But any and all new items I create will be posted in the patches section as always because this is not only my source of income, but my passion.

That's the very fortunate position I'll be in when my draw prize arrives!

Holy crap! You guys are giving it to BK with both barrels so to speak. Parallel posts on FL and here? Run for cover Platon! These guys have you bracketed to the left and the right....

You will have to secure sole supplier rights for the Mighty Eighth series, make all the patches, act as armourer, do all the CGI and act as an extra to get any cred in this game! ;)

Not that hard at all.
Just start getting jackets in the hands of customers who have ordered them.

Isn't it 3 people at Goodwear now? And besides that, has anyone waited a year to 15 months for a Kelso yet?

Nope. As of yesterday.........it's just John and Vickie.
Vickie handles the emails and I believe keeps the orders up to date.
John does everything else.
John has tried to add additional jacket makers to the business...but has not had much luck finding/training people in "art" of leather sewing.

Re; a year to 15 months for a Kelso....not yet that I've heard of.
I have had orders in the que from with both GW and BK. Never had any concerns/problems with GW, as I was told up front how long a wait it would be, I received my jacket within that time frame, and during the wait, saw that GW production was ongoing and others were receiving jackets from GW.

about a month and half, order to doorstep

Going on 5 months...no defined ETA yet, though sounds like it's doable in the not too distant future.
I get the impression it depends on which of the "Victory Horse" hides you order...though a couple of months ago I was told they had my hide in shop...so, not sure how things are done.

I placed an order for an Arco in dark seal early this year, but received the Werber which I ordered only a month or two ago, so yes depends on the hides they have.

Apparently the tannery completed the antique russet hides first )my Werber), then I think it was the seal brown next and later the dark seal. I've still got a wait to go for the Arco because they haven't received the hides as yet. That's all for the Victory HH, have no idea what the goat/cape time frames are though.

I have a large sample of the seal Cape Town 1919 and am very impressed.

Sorry to be the voice in the wilderness here, but I have no problem if the manufacturers post a promo for a new product, as long as it's available as of the day the post is made. This saves me the trouble of searching several websites, as I have only a limited amount of internet time each day. This also allows feedback from list members on the spot. So, Platon, bring it on, and you too, John, and Gary and anyone else.

Of course, used jackets should stay in the classifieds, though I don't see the harm in someone saying, "I've posted a jacket for sale, see the classifieds" in the regular forum.

Just my two cents.
