Repro great escape A2 hand - dyed horsehide jacket

Just arrived . This is repro escape A2 , great quality , great grain , but missing some detail of great escape , it's repro roughwear 16159 like eastman . Most important it's price . I'll post detail and fits after work .

A fingernail device will cure that, needs ageing anyway and to save over £1000 (guessing) it wouldn’t bother me.

I've seen photos of this jacket several times and always wondered about the decal inscription, why did they do that?

I believe the actual film jacket had 'Army Air Corps' and the decal was also larger than ww2 decals - it was possibly a painted decal.
The nameplate was also larger than ww2 spec

ELC probably went off "historically accurate" A2's but the prop department stuck on a pre war USAAC decal instead?
We all know that "close enough is good enough" is the catch cry for prop departments

Were there pre-war decals? I thought they weren't added until 1942, or so.

Not sure. But as far as I know it was usaac until 41, usaaf until 47 , then usaf

Here comes the detail of the jacket , that's why i said missing some detail . But that price that fit that quality , I'm satisfied with it . Spent 200 dollas on it

It's not patina so much as a depot redye wearing off. JMO.
