Bought this at a yard sale this morning for ten bucks. I don’t know why there are Air Force wings on a navy jacket

Thats very interesting because Colonel James Stewart (Stu) Mosbey spearheaded the effort to reinstate the A-2 leather flight jacket as standard issue to Air Force flyers.
He flew 375 combat missions in three tours in Viet Nam.
His combat decorations include three Distinguished Flying Crosses and thirty-three Air Medals.
In 1976 he was selected for the USAF/USMC fighter pilot exchange program, he became operations officer for VMFA-314 and became carrier qualified.
The DSA number on the jacket dates in to 1976, the 76 after the DSA100.
He's a short guy but stockier in his old age, size 38 would be reasonable for when he was younger.
