For one, they didn't put AAF on the sleeve. That didn't happen in most jackets until 1943. Monarch was made in 1941.

Ace, is this the kind of warm welcome you want to give a returning regular? It was clear that his jacket was a repro because there's no way anyone on this board would treat an original so casually. Plus the thread was posted in the repro section. As for the Hap Arnold logo, I've seen originals made prior to the AAF decals being mandated that still had them, so there's nothing wrong with Jeremiah's jacket having one from an accuracy standpoint, even if it was a bit uncommon. And anyway, it's his jacket so he can do what he likes with it.

Plenty of (nearly all were made before 43) pre 1943 a-2s had meatball decals, painted, as well as stitched applied on the left sleeves. 8th, 15th, 5th, etc as well. So, the jacket was made in ‘41, and due to circumstances, a meatball was applied. Odd? Nope, just average….wwll stuff.
