Check out the grain on this Dubow 20960. Courtesy of Good Wear Leather.

Holy Cow! That's beautiful.

Which hide is it? Seal Aniline or Dull Pigment Russet? Grain wise I'm thinking Seal Aniline, Colour wise I'm plumping for Dull Pigment.

I believe this is the latest batch from Japan. Post pics of yours when you get a chance.

Will do, I'll aim for tomorrow. I have a day off to decorate but can think of nothing better than indulging in jacket porn.

That's honestly one of the best looking repros I've ever seen. Great contrasting grain, perfect color, and just the right amount of sheen.

Seriously beautiful jacket, Grant. What's the hand of the leather like? How's the finish wearing in?

Hey Corey,
Wish it was mine!
John sent me the pics after I asked what the new pigment hide looked like.
I'm torn between ordering an analine seal HH for a 27752 or this pigment dyed HH for a Dubow.
This hide makes the "war horse" stuff from ELC look like kid's stuff. Just my opinion for all you ELC fans!

Suggest you contact him directly regarding any questions.

Wow, that jacket has miles and miles of grain. That's one of the best I've ever seen. I'm really not all that crazy about the smoothies. This jacket is a 9.6 on the Drool scale.

Sorry, I have to take issue with your grading. 9.6 ???? You need your eyes examined if you think that's a 9.6. If I ever saw one then that is a 10/10.

1941 in a box

Serious question, ' can there be too much grain ? '

Sure there can .... heavy graining probably works best in contrast with relatively smooth panels.

That is one of the nicest renderings of an A-2 that I have ever seen. In truth I have been getting a little jaded to the stitch counting attitude that we all have, you know like dimples on the nipples, loose over tight knits, this zip with that contract, conmar on the puller and the slider etc etc. It is all very necessary at the level we operate at but I was getting to a point where I was that close to the elephant all I could see was grey. Because what we are talking about is a leather jacket and the whole should be greater than the sum of all those parts.
Take a step back and that thing says ww2 quality (for better or worse) from a distance never mind close up. Keep zooming in and it loses none of its initial appeal.

Thats my thoughts on this one.

I'm not a 'fan' of any particular maker, but in the interests of balance:

Yes. They're not the best photos, the hide looks better in real life. Plenty of contrasting smooth and grainy areas.
