Good Wear Bronco A-2 NEW dull pigment HH after hot water

Here is John's (Good Wear's) newest Bronco with the newest dull pigment horse hide from Japan. Soaked in hot (well, really warm water) then put in a dryer (checking in every 10 minutes). I have added almost no wear besides whats there. (see my other recent hot water/aged posts). We are "done here" as it were as this is the exact color and finish, cut, look feel of a 1940's garment. In re this set up, I really don't see John making any other improvements. Oh, the new knits are great!!! Terrific in my opinion. Looks like my originals (actually, even roughed up more than many originals). I like a rough battle worn/aged look so this is what I wanted HOWEVER, some of the finish does come off with the pigment (doing this water/dryer process) and unless you are willing to risk it, I would suggest being very careful or not going there (with the pigment - if you plan on this process). On the flip side, please be aware that when the jacket first arrives (in the dull pigment) it might look a little stiff and lacking in character to some. BUT, wearing it for even a few hours starts to make a big difference and at the end of the day, its the most authentic brown I have encountered. John simply nailed this 100%. There might be more "pretty" browns out there but this is 40's military for sure. Its a trim fit but I am amazed how much motion I have. I am also loosing a few lbs. Great stuff John. Gotta run - more later. Thanks to my 6 year again as photographer! Sorry I don't have more pics. The wife has had enough of taking pics of my jackets (and probably me collecting them as well  )

Here is the exact jacket on the Good Wear site:

Impressive. I've compared the photos on the GW site with you pics. As you say: more character now! I love it

It looks nice, you've done a great job although I have to admit to feeling that this leather breaks in easy enough anyway. After about two months of wear my dull pigment United is coming along nicely, with lots of creases and mild wear showing. Bearing in mind the risk element involved in hwt I think with this hide I'd be taking the time worn route and by that I mean just wear it not attack it with sandpaper.

With the Seal I may be tempted but at $1000 plus a pop it's a risky job. Unless of course you're minted.

I agree that with this dull pigment, its risky and one might as well wait. In fact, nothing beats real wear, I just keep liking to try!

I am working on another GW right now and all I can say is "wow" - stay tuned ;)

thanks!

PS - could you post a pic or two of your wear thus far?????

I typically don't solicit comments but there are very few. Does the jacket look good? I think so. Probably most are thinking I am nuts to be doing this - correct but its loads of fun.

In re my funding process it looks like I have more than I actually do since I have posted a number of pics lately. :)

I was just joking around. Your jackets look very good. You've got a great variety.

C'mon man, give us the goddamn jacket porn now! :D

I like what you're doing, the Aero was simply wonderful, sadly I just wouldn't have the balls to do it. As for the pics I'll take some this next week.

I agree clark. And to add that if you keep this up, CBI, we're going to expect a couple of jackets a week out of ya! Much easier to wright your wife a note saying that it's perfectly OK for you to have a healthy hobby that keeps you out of trouble than have to deal with my girlfriend about my stupid obsession to leather flight jackets! :p

funny you should mention the Mrs. but what makes this next one so cool is that its a GW A-2 and the wife LOVES IT Ok, no more until I get the darn pics. I think I can supply weekly pics of new jackets for at least a few more weeks but we all have our limits. I'm affraid my "off" jacket weeks could be filled with my other hobby of limited edition aviation art prints, an even worse obsession
