Diamond Dave's Cossack Prototype

This is his very first attempt at trying to capture the look of a 1920's shawl collar jacket. It is an olive hued steerhide. For his first go at it, it's very impressive to my eyes.

This jacket is lined in a light and breathable linen. Looking forward to seeing his next creation(s). ;)

Very nice. And I like the lighter color leather.
Something different from dark brown/seal brown/russet/ dark seal.

Love: Hide, cut, collar, zip pocket, buttons

Hate: Press studs on hem, d ring waist adjustment.

Would like to see: extra buttons on hem, button down pockets.

Overall: Looks pretty good. :)

When I bought my first jacket of this type some years ago no one liked it. Now they are flavour of the month. It even took Aero 12 years to get around to making one.

I think we have David Himel to thank for the surge in popularity of the pattern :)

I like this one lot, nicer than the aero offering I think. Not quite as well evolved as the heron though.

Nice to see a non halfbelt design getting some love.

I think Levis should take the credit they have been making them for over 10 years.

Well I did and I suspect the others did who bought them in the thousands from LVC outlets. I posted a review on a previous version (earlier) of this forum and got zero interest. Just shows how fashion changes. It started here with A-1's and has moved on to the all leather jackets.
Anyway let's not hijack the thread. Dave's jacket looks great and I wish him great success.

I like it! I have just seen that Aero made a similar model: "aeromarine"

I wasn't around to the earliest post, but you convinced me John..

"I saw this jacket as well last night and it is a thing of beauty - as John says, vintage A-1 appeal and a marvellous, lustrous finish.

I have to put on record Mr Lever, if you ever want to sell this one you have me on speed dial "

What a stunning jacket. The button holes add real style and the leather is great with lovely character and sheen. Is it black or very dark brown ?
Are you taking orders yet ?
The only thing for me would be slightly smaller pockets.

John,

Thank you for your kind comments.. the jacket is indeed black. It is a Horween "milled hide" which simply put just means that it is tumbled to allow softness, but it also brings up A TON of grain. The jacket is sooooo soft to wear that it almost feels like it disappears on your back.

As to the pockets, I think this is an optical illusion, due to the fact that the jacket is a sz 48, while my mannequin is a slim 42! I believe that it makes the pockets wrap around the body too far and look a little large. I am sending the jacket out for a photo shoot with a much better photographer than myself, so we will see how they look on someone the right size!

As to orders, I am currently grading the patterns and should be done in a couple of days, and then we are OFF TO THE RACES!

That said the jackets will run right around 1100 USD, due in no small part to those buttonholes... argh!
