I have seen this site referenced before, and have always held back on commenting, but just about every patch he pictures is fake. Most are really bad fakes....really, really bad fakes!

I have also seen these patches in person as well. He sells the patches, humped up painted flight jackets, US submarine kill flags, and host of other modern done war art at military shows in Southern California. At one time, he stamped them with RKO prop house stamps on the backs, but I am not sure he is doing that now.

His site does have some value in that he has done a reasonable job in laying things out. I find it useful for helping to identify units sometimes, but not as a guide for what might be real or not.

Thanks for the heads up. The interwebs are dangerous source of potential misinfo.

How good art thou ?

Thanks for the heads up. The interwebs are dangerous source of potential misinfo.

As we saw in another thread, there are any number of sellers who make less than truthful statements about their goods as well as counterfeiting goods.

This seller is selling painted Disney patches, but he pretty much tells you their provenance is in question and you takes it or you leaves it for what they are...and personally, I think the patches are pretty neat in their own right...just not $ 80 or $100 neat.

What's funny is that one of the patches he sold last week for $ 65
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

The same patch is now:
VERY RARE WW2 DISNEY 6" LEATHER A-2 JACKET PATCH
http://cgi.ebay.com/VERY-RARE-WW2-DISNE ... %26ps%3D63

The original seller has upped his start bid from $65.00 to $ 80 and his BIN prices as well.

Caveat emptor

I agree about this guys patches. Since my uncle flew with the 90th Bomb Group, I'm always looking at these when I can find them. The ones he sells, I've never seen in period photos. Much different than ones I know that are the real deal. ;)

the "jeep guy" is Brain French (no relation to anyone on VLJ). I had a bad experience with him once. I was in a pinch for a few patches for a project, purchased them, cancelled the purchase before he recieved my payment, talked to him about it was given the "OK" and was never refunded. There are many details I am leaving out but lets say my experience was less than ideal and was/is my worst retail militaria experience in all my years of collecting. I would avoid him like the plague. My appologies as Brian's site has come up as a topic before and I have passed along the same info. a number of times. My transaction was SO dishonest on his part that I will keep the warnings coming.

I would agree that as a general reference the site can be helpful. I have been toying with contacting him via eBay and asking for my money back but its not in relation to an eBay transaction and would be harrasment ...................... probably. At least I can still do some reputation tarnishing

here's a link to another (earlier) post that has a closer up image - go to the last entry.

Since this photo I have done some more work on this art - I am relaly happy with it now. I will post another pic.

I guess I am sort of highjacking this thread - don't mean to. :?
