Full-size shoulder/bust form for AN-J-3A... made of a safe material?

So I hang virtually all of my nice vintage suit jackets, leather jackets, etc. on wide polypropylene shoulder sleeves, these here: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/bumerang-shoulder-shaper-for-hanger-white-70293274/ Why do I specify the material? Because it's inert, as opposed to PVC which I've...

Please help me understand G-1 leather types and thickness...

You know @ZuZu , over maybe ten different locations I posted this question online, I think yours has been the single most helpful response I’ve gotten (no jabs to everyone else- I appreciate the help! :)) This is exactly the information I needed. Thank you!! Mine is exactly as you describe-...

Please help me understand G-1 leather types and thickness...

So I'm on kind of a white whale hunt here and could really use y'all's help! I first came across 60s/70s G1s at flea markets, vintage stores, etc. I was amazed at how well they fit me, specifically one type that kept cropping up- Star Sportswear size 38s. Besides the amazing fit, one of the...

Help educate me in this style of vintage jacket? (Will likely be my first purchase!)

Thanks. To that point then, which search terms would you recommend?

Help educate me in this style of vintage jacket? (Will likely be my first purchase!)

The thing is, I’d rather go vintage for a number of reasons. That’s why I was curious more about: history, style, brands, context, etc. Unless this is just another leather jacket and there’s not much to say :\. Example: “oh those were Glaston jackets. Very popular in the 1280s. Made from puffins...

Help educate me in this style of vintage jacket? (Will likely be my first purchase!)

Hey all! So I came here originally looking for flight jacket info, but am now venturing out into a category of general vintage leather jacket. The thing is, this is all new to me, and so while I'm finding some results on the usual sites, I know I need (and want!) a lot more info and knowledge to...

    Raw lanolin vs. purified

The last thing I asked was, "Pharma grade is... just purified more? Is anything else done to it? Thanks!" to which they responded: "Yes it's purified more. Any kind of pesticides that might be in the raw grade are removed. And just generally cleaner." Just hoping something positive isn't lost...

    Raw lanolin vs. purified

Maybe this is really getting into the weeds here, but curious if people have an opinion about lanolin as relates to refinement. I did some research and one brand looks great: https://www.etsy.com/shop/NZNaturally?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1105387091 I just don't know if to get raw...

Any anhydrous lanolin brand/product you’d recommend for conditioning and restoration?

I was recently recommended anhydrous lanolin by a collector and figured I would get some. Obviously Amazon and Etsy are full of options. Any ones you particularly like? Thanks all!

How would you restore this AN-J-3A? Would you? Who does it well?

Someone just posted this in a group. This is a good example of what I thought should be done to the leather, though it’s gone a bit too shiny for my taste. But it’s very close. They used Obernaufs and URAD dark brown. Basically one notch before this level of restoration/polish is what I was...

How would you restore this AN-J-3A? Would you? Who does it well?

Does the petroleum jelly (or anything like it) just temporarily condition the leather or does it actually permanently improve it?

How would you restore this AN-J-3A? Would you? Who does it well?

Do you apply with… brush? Tissue? Bare hand? Massage it in? Circular patterns? Besides sounding like a menu at a dodgy massage parlor :), looking to get as minute details as possible here as I’ve never done this before. Thanks!
