How about one of AVI's upcoming G&F M-422as? Im hoping for good things there also.

And yes, ATF's tanker is a great jacket. Mine got so much wear this winter. May not be a 100% perfectly authentic repro, but its 80 -90% there and imho better than an original. That wool would itch my pants off.
The fleece makes its an easy daily wearer.

I know Headwind doesn't get much love on here but I am personally very much looking forward to Headwind's Church 422A; and especially his 55J14.
Can't wait to see his 'vintage USN goatskin' in action. Its the closest I've seen any repro come to looking like actual vintage 50s and 60s USN goatskin (Save GW of course). Not even RMC or Buzz's goat come close to the somewhat perfect imperfection of the originals (like the ones Jorge posts on here).

Cool patch schemes aside, I was kind of underwhelmed with the Buzz G-1. I don’t think it’s their speciality. Too precise.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed this too, but have you ever found that Buzz mouton fades weirdly?
It does not go dark brown -> Caramel -> Golden Brown.
Buzz G-1 mouton just looks like a 'dirty' brown over time. At least the ones on Yahoo auctions appear so...

The question Wei (implicitly) raised was who makes the most accurate Navy jacket repros. Personally, like you I’d rather buy original, but if money is no object, Sheeley should absolutely be a big part of the conversation.

I dunno, they used to be good, but then they got into synthetic fur, and moved away from the nice goatskin they used to use. If you want my opinion, they're pivoting to new markets and have abandoned the customers who've been loyal to them through the years.

Speaking of M-422a jackets, I am quite happy with my humble ELC repro...I was not so happy with the leather when I received it second hand two years ago, but after wearing it quite often and in all sorts of weather, it has aged rather nicely...it does not look as good as my ELC G-1 yet, but theres hope that in a few years, she will look quite nice too...
