Many of us know Van Brown, who is Vcruiser on this forum. He has passed away. He was a long-time friend and when he could, would post here quite frequently.
He will be missed. Rest in peace, Van.

Haha, Ian sent a note before Thanksgiving started - had my wife's mom stay with us for over a week. Just got back with him. I've been pretty slow with email, and will be answer people.
Re: Some rare & beauiful original jackets just listed for sa
Great jackets! Being a vintage size 46 makes these hard to go through, as they're very solid jackets. The sheepskin ones are really cool.

These side adjusters are seen only on the last Aero B-6 contract, the Poughkeepsie, and then Arnoff contracts, and those last two are towards the end run of B-6 production. The Aero B-6 contract is the same as their B-3 contract number, and on those B-3s, they have identical small straps, and a...
Gents,
I have an Arnoff B-6 original that has a Conmar zipper.

Definitely the original zipper, not replaced. I've seen a number of Conmar zippers on B-3 jackets as well.

Semi-Combat Clone treatment (WWII-style sewing lines, but no sanding and buffing). Basically what a new original would look like, though a tiny bit better.

Hello everyone,
Over the weekend, I received an email from the grandson of Mr. Tenenbaum, of the company Bogen & Tenenbaum. Below is what he wrote me about the history of the company and his family, which I found quite interesting:

The owners were two Jewish...
Hi ButteMT!
So, this has a bit of a funny story. One of my good friends from high school knew that I should have a Facebook page for GW, so he started this page back in 2009, and added me as a moderator. He is Howard Wooten, and we were both in to illustration in school, and both ended up in...
The original jacket in the eBay sale is most likely an original 1940s civilian Aero A-2 jacket, one of their mail order models that we've seen the advertisements of. The label is identical to several that I've seen.
Here's an original Dubow, owned by a friend of mine:

Gents,
All the posts are good feedback. One reason I've started the combat clone series is that I love how originals look - imperfect sewing, uneven balance of collar and pockets, yet from a distance, all looks good. I've always wanted to start this operation, and finally got to it. I know that...
Gents,
Good calls on the goofs. I was doing this up to 4am, and being that I've mostly been getting Cable labelled jackets, I missed that the 27753 was used. D'oh! My favorite, by far though, was that I had the MA-1 as not being "beated down" too much. Oh my. "I's selling jacket here not beated...
Gents,
That jacket is big, and so is the original that it's based from. You can see the original no-name 27753 (definitely made by Cable Raincoat) in size 46, and this is the exact jacket used for this pattern. I've handled several in size 46, and they're all very large for the size tag...
Gents,
As someone who makes and sells repros, here's what I think the market likes. First of all, this discussion board is rather packed with people who have bought originals, know originals, or at least know how to study originals. Many of us have bought and sold originals and reproductions...
