Hi ButteMT!

So, this has a bit of a funny story. One of my good friends from high school knew that I should have a Facebook page for GW, so he started this page back in 2009, and added me as a moderator. He is Howard Wooten, and we were both in to illustration in school, and both ended up in different forms of computer design later. He saw the post, and as one of the admins of the FB page, he just commented on it. It does make for a weird and confusing set of comments!

Howard's uncle was a Tuskegee Airman. Here's his photograph:

And here's a picture of Howard today - you can see that they look similar.

Howard's uncle died in a rather tragic work-related fall from a bridge after the war. His photo is used all the time as an iconic image for the Tuskegee Airmen. All through the time I've known Howard, until Red Tails started to happen, I had no idea they were related, as most of the photos of his uncle don't show the name and date we see in the photo above. I was floored to find out that they are the same family.

Thanks!
John

OK, just seemed out of place, but admittedly, I found it funny!
Glad it is as expected.

Cheers,

I'm guessing Howard's uncle is wearing a Rough Wear in the original photograph?

Thank you for sharing, John. I agree, the comment didn't sound like something from John or Vickie!

Doesn't look like a RW collar to me but I know less than most. That hide is crazy though!

Dave, It would appear to be a Rough Wear 18091, which was made of goatskin. It has a collar stand and typical RW epaulets and collar.

Funny, I was searching a War Correspondent pin this morning and up popped a picture of Howard Wooten, from there you can find more photos.
