WW2 FLYBOY PAINTING UK ? Pilot ?

a nicely done pastel of a fly boy. would love to nail it down to a time and place and any other info ?

signed K Barker? there is a K Barker UK artist listed but cannot find any reference to this work.

discussion appreciated.

There is writing on the back..

"C. Montgomery" and what looks to be a UK address hard to read. perhaps the owner of the art name/address as is often the case.

Just my opinion but the helmet looks to be a pre-WWII Civilian type with brow strap like those made by D. Lewis and it has the civil style gosport earpieces. The goggles look a lot like MkIIIa's which were introduced in 1936 but may be a different type- hard to say but they don't look like earlier types of goggles as they were more rounded. The beard and navy sweater give me the impression of "Navy"- either he's a civilian flyboy or possible Naval Air Service....?

Nice piece of work.
