USWings says it has come upon a stash of deadstock 40s goatskin.
And what have they made with it?
100 of their standard mall-cut A-2s of course, with the baseball-glove sized pockets.


Then again, how great can the skin be in a jacket that they've priced at $329?

The leather might be vintage but nowhere close to the leather found on goatskin A-2s imo. JC's leather looks way, way better.

The cut is awful indeed too ... I hate that V shaped cut most cheaper A2-like jackets have. Do note that this jacket is in their "normal" cut, the "military" cut might be different - I have no idea. FWIW, they offer four differernt fits:

Jeepers! It looks like they stretched the waistband to its maximum deflection then sewed it to the jacket body. I'm sure that the goatskin is really cool but it looks very wrong...

And where exactly do you store hides for 65 or so years and keep them "deadstock" and sewable? The pocket flaps look vaugely pornographic to me, but I'm funny that way...

The hide looks chrome-tanned and drum-tied, hardly "vintage." And it may just be how the jacket fell on the table for photography, but I'd lay pretty good odds that those epauletts will roll forward off the shoulder.
