W&G M444 Looks Nice

Yes it does look nice. The pictures could be clearer. Does anyone know whether the contract number is correct for WW2 issue? I know W & G made repro naval jackets and I hope this is not one of them! The small size tends to suggest that it is original.

Looks too good to me. The collar is as new.

I'm not so sure. If it is a repro then it's a pretty good one. A closeup of the zipper would answer the question.

According to Wikipedia there have been only 246 four star admirals in the history of the US Navy. Of these 14 entered the Navy via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp (NROTC). Of these 14, only a few during WW2. My question is: who sells such a piece of history with a reserve price of 50 USD? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Navy_four-star_admirals .Cheers, Carlo

I have had two of these jackets both were identical to this one. The seller lists a wide range of used goods and is not a specialist military seller.

Yes, the contract number is correct ... Full Gear notes nickel-plated buckles, khaki wool cuffs.

There is now a pic of the zipper but it's not very sharp. The tape seems to be HBT and the teeth look suitably tarnished but I'm not sure about the slider. I've compared it to the Talon on my M-445 and it's pretty close but the photo is just not good enough. Did M-444's come in different lenghts ? My M-445 is a standard 40.

It does look like a wartime Talon. The slider appears to be of the double-marked brass variety.

Hi all. One of the pictures, the one where you see the pocket, looks to be from another jacket. Why is that?
Kind regards
Mike

It's the same jacket, but the camera setting was different for the close and perhaps the light had changed, hence the lighter colour.
