On this Wednesday had an awesome flight jacket event at I Bar NAS North Island San Diego meeting my old friend Chip and three ex Phrog driver ladies for pizza, beer and sea stories. Here are some shots of Chip's G-1, size 44, which still zips up after all those years. His first unit was AIRFERRON 32, where awesome flight opportunities were ample in various aircraft like the old T-28. He flew helos and fixed wing, his dad was a pilot in the USAAF in WW2 and his nephew is an Apache driver. Chip settled on Phrogs and later taught me 60 Foxtrotts as a sim instructor. Awesome to know that crowd. Here are closeups.
By the way, if you're in San Diego, ride up the 67 to Ramona Airport and visit one of only four dedicated helicopter museums with awesome exhibits like the HRP, CH-37 Mojave and a flyable H-21...
