Unusual Nasa Nylon L-2b 1969

Hi all,
I'm used to the various cloth NASA L-2b blue jackets but this is the first time I've seen a Nylon version, here worn by Eugene A. Cernan .

I have looked at this picture for a couple of days now. In the first picture the blue jacket clearly has light & shade properties/refractive of a synthetic fabric. In the same picture it looks like Stafford's jacket is of the poplin "Test Pilots Jacket" type (with pocket snap) and has a flatter sheen.

Picture 2 (even though the focal point is on the left of the picture) you can see the blue jacket has a different sheen from the other two flight uniforms. It reflects more light comparatively than the others.

Stafford looks pretty dour in these photos. Thanks for posting!

Hi all
thanks for replies, I found one more image of this jacket, I'm more convinced that this one is Nylon.

Obviously nylon per the last picture. I have no info, but it's a pretty cool jacket!

Here are some other pictures taken that day. It sure looks like nylon to me, and I have been wondering out that for years. Also notice that the front portion of the shoulder pads of John Young's flight suit appear not to be sewn down.

Maybe Cernan had it made custom. The NASA flight suit and jacket contractor at the time was Land Manufacturing, I believe. They're long gone, but I'm fortunate to have one of those light blue Apollo era flight suits in my closet.
