Marcel, I've found in the past that I can layer with an A-1 under an overcoat (like a sleeved jerkin).
Works well - John Lever has done the same with an Irvin or B-3 (extends the season for your A-1).

that's a possibility but I did not like layers superimposed
a single t-shirt or maximum a sweetshirt under my jacket

I've got to get another A-1! I miss the one I sold to Dr. H. Too bad JC doesn't still have the Vermont Espresso. I love the Dubow he did for me a few years ago in that hide, and it looks great on that A-1.
