Now just who made this? Post-war copy perhaps? Everything about it just seems a little bit off.

Hawkeye, thanks for posting about this jacket. Wartime jackets did not have a single piece back, but post war low grade copies did, yet this is not a typical example of one of those jackets. The Aero zips were used on some bike jackets in the 1950s. So my guess is it dates from the early 1950s and was not an issued jacket, rather a private purchase as you say. The price seems fair, but it does have some repairs.
