shoulder patches ?

Can any one tell me if the shoulder patches on 8th Air Force A2 jackets
were ever painted on leather. As in straight on to the jacket or on to a leather patch
then sown on.

I've seen quite a few painted on when the rest of the jacket was painted up. Never saw a painted leather shoulder patch but I'm sure they are out there.

I am driving up to Aero to get measured for my Real Deal A2, the week after next
when they come back from their 2 week break. I tried to find the leather patch on a few
sites but could not see any. Sky Anne look's really cool so i am happy with that now.
Aero's patch look's like leather and sown on.

Yes it is definitely "Shy Anne" not "Sky Anne" on the basis of the records of B-17s for this BG.

Just out of curiosity, what is the green stuff in the zipper / hardware? My old g1 has some and I was wondering if it can be cleaned off.

It is verdigris. Yes it can be cleaned off but will return.
