Schott A2 Jacket.?

Hi I've a couple of old leather jackets one them I've owned for 20 odd years. It's a Schott leather jacket I paid £20 for it, the labels are barely legible and torn but present.
The artwork has been handpainted on.
The original Zipper was missing but the sewn in replacement works and rmto be fair its a compromise repair that doesn't damage the jacket. It's been stitched to the existing broken Zipper fabric (that I think may be a replacement anyway) it's had a professional repair to a tear in the pocket.
I believe its a 1950s A2 jacket
It's not for sale but a bit of history on it would be appreciated.
Regards Sean

Looks a lot like a late 70s Schott, other than the tags -- which seem newer than mine.

The painting was done to replicate a 50s, greaser jacket -- maybe for a costume, maybe for fun.

Yours is in much better condition than mine, the labels are so faded nd tornI can only just make out half of the American flag on one label and very feint printed lettering on the other label.

Also, Schott has a search or query function at their website. If you can read any serial numbers they might be able to help.

FWIW, mine is a I-S-674-M-8.

Only going from memory, but I'm pretty sure the flag on the label and the Schott imprints on the buttons were added later than the 70s.

Also, I believe the brown (somewhat lighter) leather was a later option.

Thank you for your help any idea where I might find any serial number.. I'm guessing on the very worn or even torn label.

Looks like the labels are pretty worn on yours, so probably not a resource. But the US Flag and imprint buttons might help for a general vintage if you contact Schott.

Sorry, I thought the second label in your first pics was the pocket label or I'd have mentioned there was one there.

Although, mine is unreadable anymore, so that reinforces my presumption that yours is probably newer than 1970s.
Thank you I've registered on the Schott site and sent them a message.

That’s the best way to get accurate details. I have a couple of schotts, I believe this is likely a I S 674 MS, the 174 I think is a slightly slimmer body style. “Gail” at Schott is a phenomenal historian of their jackets and is very responsive to email inquires on their forum.

That would be sad, had not heard. i Had heard she was retired from Schott for a number of years and did the forum for fun
Post #2 in the link to The Fedora Lounge I posted above. From July of this year. Sad.

I wonder if she left her archives to someone to carry on the tradition?
