Something different from the usual military "boys own stuff" ....

Freddie Harrison, six years old , saved his sister Winifred Mary ( pictured) , three years old, from beneath a pile of bricks after a German bomb smashed their London home whilst they were in bed , 6th March 1941. Then Freddie and Winifred, working together with their little hands , tore away more debris to rescue their baby sister , Joybells.

My brother has a funny story about a canso ( Catalina). When he was an apprentice the survey company bought one. He and bunch of other apprentices were stuffed inside with red markers. They were going to land on Lake Ontario and their job was to circle any leaking rivets with the markers. As soon as the aircraft slows down after touchdown the water was gushing in from everywhere. They all dropped their markers and started screaming at the pilot “go go go”
