I have looked at several photo's at various ages of this patch. Question, does it look like there is a black trace line around the star? also noticed the fourth leg under the belly, that is not normally seen due to chipping. In all pictures I have not noticed pronounced claws.

high intensity b&w flash [look at the shadow under the subjects chin]. because the star is a sewn on piece of leather, it casts a shadow. the paw claws were probably painted on as often they were. thus they were, along with the tigers stripes, the first to rub off due to seat harness abrasion.

The star is painted on, I have a close up of the museum pic, but am trying to find back info when the patch was less distressed.
