Preforated USN on zipper flap - thoughts anyone?

On some of the 7823's I have been looking at, the "USN" stamped in the windflap is not horizontal, with each letter side-by-side. It's vertical: The "U" is atop the "S," the "S" atop the "N. Are these authentic and if so, does anyone know which manufacturers followed this pattern?

I have vintage G-1's made by Cooper and Ralph Edwards, manufactured in the late '80's, that have the USN windflap stamp in the vertical format.

My branded by orchard G1 has USCG on the flap , it was apparently issued to the coast guard
