One of the most difficult WW2 flight jacket to find...

Hello,

After more than 4 years of hunting, I've finally found what I was looking for.
The inner jacket of the type F-2 heated jacket.
The outer comes out sometimes, but the electrically heated inner... :roll:
It's not the kind of jacket your could wear today, so it's not very famous here, but it's very representative of the heavy bomber groups in Europe in 1944.
Why are they so hard to find is a mystery to me ?

Just a lucky shot in EBay Uk. £69 for the inside trousers and inside jacket.
Even in my dreams I woulnd't have hoped this opportunity.

The outer jacket was already mine.

A small bunch popped up on eBay 8-10 years ago.

It killed me because I was out of work at the time and I was selling all the stuff.

ive only ever seen the blue bunny suit before.
Were these a commonly used item. they look strangely over-tailored for a utility garment

Thank you guys for the kind comments.

The F-2 suit was standardized in august 1943 and limited standard in february 1944.
It has been widely used between late 1943 and middle 1944. You can see many of them on the wartime pics of crews in England, but for an unknown reason they seem to have disappear after the war.
They were made from the best technology at this time.
May be one day someone will find thousands of them, carefully stocked in a foreign country for 70 years, as for the tanker helmets !?!
