"Hello,
Your nose art painting is very similar to one we own. Same OD canvas, same size. It's also by Mario Castro and is a copy of a Vargas girl featured in an Esquire calendar (from 1944 I believe). We purchased it some time ago from a seller in North Carolina who had acquired it from a WW2 vet. That owner had taken it from the ready room of his Air Force squadron. All I know is it was from the 5th AAF and the squad flew B-25's.
I surmise Castro was the resident artist for the different crews and he did some paintings on old tents as well as I presume, aircraft."
What a nice surprise to learn some of the actual history !!
