Wonderful article and I still have my copy of 30 Secs over Tokyo, First Printing, 1943. The A-2's look "high end" to me although don't know who made them.

I only skimmed the article, but:

We then set up another portrait session at the Raiders hotel where I photographed each Raider on white and black backgrounds with old vintage leather A-2 jackets and flyboy caps.
