My Star (GW)

At last I have received the A-2 I have been waiting for since forever- a Star size 48. I had one literally new in the box in the late 1970s but it was too small. This one is the jacket I've always wanted- roomy. Please forgive my HORRIBLE photos- of course it looks much better in real life. It invites comparison with the Star 48 that Burt and Saucerfiend used to own. I'll do a proper review later with better photos.
As I said- literally indistinguishable from a new original in the box!

There is no detail on this jacket which is different from an original. Snaps, clips, zipper. The color is correct. Lining is correct. Pattern is correct. Literally a time machine jacket!

Specially made to my specs. Overdyed Shinki.

When I watched "12 O'clock High" I noticed that Peck's #2 had a Star that to me looked like it could have been made from Shinki. That was in 2016 or so. I've had the idea ever since.

Yes it was russet Shinki, but aniline. I wanted the paint finish typical of many later A-2s. The knits are mid-brown.

I really like the fit. Oozes WWII! Not only a great WWII profile, but it looks comfortable, and there's room to layer if necessary.
You'll likely enjoy wearing this and will therefore wear it often.

Pointless having a great looking A-2 in the closet, but dont wear it, because it just doesn't fit great.
