My repro "original" G-1

Here are some photos of my repro "original" G-1. My issued G-1 was stolen a few years ago and I've been looking for a replacement ever since. I couldn't find anything I liked on ebay, although I did pick up a cool C model, so I bought this from Gibson & Barnes. I normally wear a 38 or 40 so I went down to a 36 in a G&B and it was still a little big. I took the drastic step of doing the HWT on it and I like the results. A much more military fit like my original, which was a Brill Bros. issued to me in 1985. I believe it was tagged as an 83 or 84. Here are the before and after measurements from the HWT:

Before After
Chest 22 21.5
Back 25.75 24
Flap 22.25 22
Sleeve 25 23.5
Shoulder 18.5 17.25

The two things I don't like that happened after the HWT are 1) the mouton collar is now matted a bit and 2) the shoulders are a little tighter than I'd like but I can live with both.

In relation to the matted collar, I made sure that I didn't get the collar wet. However, with the steam from the hot water and the jacket being tumbled dry, I'm sure the collar got a bit damp.

Is this goatskin? If it is, I am surprised it shrank any at all. Goat tends not to shrink very much.

Yep... It's goatskin. I used very hot water and soaked it for about 15 minutes in the washer and then put it in the dryer on the high setting.
