Monarch 40s/50s Horsehide

A very cool and interesting example of a civilian jacket made by Monarch looks to me like made from horsehide [correct me if my assumption is wrong, but in fact leather looks like horsehide]. Based on the design, it reminds me of jackets from the end of the 40's or early 50's.
