Hi the patch has something to do with the Military affiliate radio system ,The number 27 is the region its working out of .I think your patch is from the late 1950s into the 1960s. It seem that all branches of the services have mars units USN,USCG,USMC,USARMY,USAF.

Hello Marcel, actually your MARS-27 patch is a middle 50's-early 60's era,and the title stands for Marine Aircraft Repair Squadron, see the tools the winged guy is holding, not a radio unit.
