Thanks a lot Gleb! I found a couple of pics of the patch, however obscured somewhat. Then the mystery patch on the shoulder of Dale Shelton, A/C. Looks like you have three Boy Scouts of America (BSA) camporee patches. Good finds.

Kevin,

Yes, the 305th and 43rd both used Mach Crow patches. The DSO crewmen wore them on the left shoulder. Beware of the versions offered currently on ebay. I'm not positive, but the recent ones look repro to me. The repros were made for reunions.

The Hustler patches that Gleb posted are Boy Scout patches used for the troop at Bunker Hill AFB. Really cool idea for the time. ;)

Here are some more photo examples of Mach Crow patches in use.

In use with the 305th. Notice the use of the B-15D into the 1960s.

In use with the 43rd BW and 65th BS

Here is something I put together for patching Hustler jackets.

Thanks again Danny. Your color diagrams of the patches is very good. Yes I'll admit the patch I am getting is a reunion patch and I also have two of the "trophy" reunion patches too. After spending $100+ on an original 305BW patch fron LJmilitaria I am not too keen on spending a buttload on secondary patches. I am glad just to have any of 'em. Thanks for posting your two jackets. They look great!

Thanks Danny, great patches set example! And very nice Jacket !
I have triangulate and large 305th don't know if original but both have stitching holes and both looks a little bit worn.
Newer saw this dark Crow patch nice one. I am looking more for test patches. 1950-1970 period.
Some this patches very hard to find.

LJmilitaria does have some VERY nice and hard to find patches, but you do pay the price. The original triangle 305th patches can be found pretty cheap since it is one of those patches that was made in huge bulks. The extra large 305th Bomb Wing patch is very difficult to find as these were the earlier versions and measure 4 3/4" in length. The later versions were right at 4". The other patches that do not come up on ebay but once in a grey moon are the squadron patches from the 43rd BW (63rd, 64th and 65th). LJ Militaria has a 64th but wants about $150 for it and about $80 for the 63rd. He had a 65th that he sold over last winter. Original Trophy patches are also very difficult. I got lucky and found mine from a guy in Australia. Not the best condition but I got it for less than $100.

You can see the size difference in the 305th patches here. Pilot and OSO have larger patches, while the DSO on the right has the smaller 4" version.

The most difficult Hustler patch is the one pictured here that you mentioned. I have only seen one on ebay and can't remember the final selling price, but I believe it went close to $300 or slightly more. Not sure on the significance, but I'm led to believe it was a VERY early flight test patch.

Thanks Gleb. I've always loved the B-58 because of it's leading technology. It really wouldn't look too out of place in today's Air Force when compared with the B-52.

Your 305th patches could very well be originals since they are both somewhat easy to find. If you have the extra large 305th Bomb Wing patch, then that's even better since they do not surface too often.

Original Crow patches as mentioned earlier are super difficult to find. ;)

That's some good info Gleb. It seems like the perfect patch for that project, but I doubt a pilot would be wearing a patch of a project that was never even tested. I'll keep searching the story behind this patch. ;)

Probably patch symbol of project not concrete plane.
Later this concept from "PARASITE" was tested on SR-71 drone D-21A.
