Dunno ... but I've always liked that cover picture, it shows that A-1's didn't have to be lightweights.

That is the emblem for the 430th Pursuit Squadron Missouri National Guard,Richards Field/Fairfax Field,Kansas City ,Missouri pre WW2.
I'm not sure what type aircraft they would have flown but the unit is confirmed.
