Hi, newbie here. I'm looking for help on a flight jacket. Label has this: G-1 Buaer - US Navy, Specification M-422A, Contract No NXJ5133, COCKPIT (tm) New York, New York.

I see that Cockpit is currently selling G-1 jackets, so I'm guessing this is a recent one. Is there any way to tell its approximate manufacture date based on the contract no?

No … not possible because the contract number is a made up one . This is not an original military issued jacket, but one made for the commercial sales market.

If you email Cockpit they may tell you. It’s not going to be that old because they changed the name from Avirex to Cockpit-I don’t know exactly when, but it’s not that long ago.
