Devil’s advocate here...if I recall, the guys at Aero mentioned that their civvie jackets (like this one) are the big sellers, while the authentic military ones are a niche item. Perhaps ELC also is trying to expand its customer base beyond enthusiasts like us. That kind of larger market income might free them up to detach the decision to make specialty version A-2s we’d all like to see from purely economic factors. So I get the decision to try something like this.
That said, it’s an ugly jacket. Looks like TSPTR is trying to capitalize on the current revival of ‘80s fashion. Good luck to them.
