Early A-2 ID?

Check his rank. He’s likely the squadron commander. In the interwar period pics, I’ve rarely seen a CO wearing an A-1, at least when posing.
He’s a captain, the others are looies. And I have seen A-1s being worn by no less than Gen. Foulois while he was the CAC.

Here is another photo with Brig. Gen. Westover, and Lt. Col. Arnold wearing the same jackets as above.
It is lower quality and the details of Arnold's jacket are more difficult to pick out, but they are there.

Love those perfectly placed name tags.

The other thing is that a shirt and tie just adds that finishing touch to a A1/A2 jacket.

Sorry guys this isn't to do with the jackets but...

Hap Arnold must be fourth from the left and is Westover third from left?

Yes, Tim and Westover appears to be wearing a Werber 1729 with the lighter caramel knits, which are much clearer in the photo on the previous page.

Grant, it looks like the consensus on the other (Button Flap Pocket) thread is that that "Werber" is a Goldsmith...
