Cool Guys Don't Zip

I think in general (at least for me but maybe quite a few others) the look we're after with these jackets is a generalised WW2 look something like this:

Loose, relaxed but zipped- for me it's just how I normally wear my jackets!

But in life outside History- life in the movies and Popular Culture- well- cool guys don't zip!

And then finally- as if to confirm- the weirdest wound up way too tight burners of cities- the real deal guys- do zip- way up!

And everyone, and I mean everyone, should read his memoir "My Wicked, Wicked Ways". Easily one of the greatest memoirs/autobiographies I have read and riotously funny in parts. Also easily one of the most enjoyable books I'd wager you can read.

A-2 zippers? I do both, depends usually on the wind level.

Agree on all counts Tim. If it's chilly I will zip up, if warm unzip.

I enjoyed Flynn's book and you remind me that I'm overdue a re-read, likewise Spike Milligan's "Adolf Hitler: My Part In His Downfall".

I had an A-2 that looked fantastic unzipped & was mostly worn that way. Zipped it was very restrictive so I moved on and purchased another in the correct size

It be my thought that the guys in the actual military wear their jackets zippered as per regulations not due to style or temperature.

Yeah, Army reg is to have it zipped to the 2nd shirt button from the top. Navy says at least 3/4 of the way up. can’t locate the reg for the USAF, but it’s certainly something similar.

If you’re wearing any jacket or coat, it has to be zipped or buttoned.
